What decreases Albedo

Pollution influences albedo of the earth. Two primary pollutants with influencing it are black carbon (soot) and other aerosols. Black carbon first pollutes the atmosphere and absorbs the heat, acting similarly to greenhouse gases. It also falls on white surfaces (ice and snow) decreasing their albedo[1]. Other aerosols are often separated from soot and act in a variety of ways. Some of them absorb heat, whereas others reflect it. Aerosols also have a complex relationship with clouds.

Albedo effect could also be engineered to a degree with the creation of smart cities and white reflective roofs. It is a solution worth considering if you have a roof facing the sky.
