Warming oceans

Warming ocean, which absorbs heat caused by excess heat trapping in the atmosphere, impacts corals as well. Corals live in an environment where the water temperature is optimal for their development, and when it is altered, they experience thermal stress, leading to their bleaching. Warmer oceans also enable the development of infectious diseases which attack corals, weakening them further.
