The color of the soil

Soils which are darker in color, even black, are the most fertile. The dark color of the soil results from the carbon stored in it. However, there’s not enough carbon in agriculture soils; instead, there’s too much carbon in the air. Getting carbon from the air and depositing it back in the ground (sequestration) will help us to improve soil fertility and to reduce excessive greenhouse gases that we emitted in the atmosphere. Biochar and organic farming practices are some examples of how this could be achieved.
