Let’s continue. Some research shows that people who meditate regularly, need less sleep. It is actually more possible that they need the same rest (unless they practice yoga nidra), but they fall asleep faster, sleep better (improved quality) and hence restore more efficiently during sleep. This minimizes time spent in bed when you try to fall asleep but can’t. You simply lie down, get your needed rest and wake up fresh and fully regenerated.
Yogic sleep, called Yoga Nidra (you will have the opportunity to try it later in this course) actually can shorten sleep time, because you need much less time to restore. As much as 30 minutes of yoga nidra is equivalent to 2 hours of deep sleep!
