Samadhi – Self-realization

Samadhi is the final goal of Raja Yoga. It is self-realization or achievement of transcendental consciousness. This stage flows from dhyana or meditation. Whereas during the previous stage there are two types of awareness that are practiced – awareness of the object of concentration (breathing or visualized object) and the awareness of the practice, the final stage is characterized by merging of the awareness of the self with the awareness of the object. You become your breath, in other words, when the object of meditation is your breathing.
