You may have also noticed, that meditations that you do are all very similar to each other. There are some differences between them, but they are quite subtle. This is not without reason, meditation is a repetitive practice, but this consistency is also what allows neuroplasticity to take place. You need to build a lasting habit first by repeating similar patterns over and over again.

Funnily, even though you build new patterns with repetition of meditative practice, it is this practice which lets you bring other patterns in your life. When you guide your neuroplasticity, the changes that take place are controlled and well-intended. With time, when you achieve effortless consistency in meditation, you may want to start experimenting with adjusting your practice to your personal preferences. Before that, however, you should get into the habit of meditating.
