Pesticides used in farming are one of the major ocean polluters. On top of neurotoxins increase in waters, chemical fertilizers also decrease soil’s effectiveness to regenerate and contribute to global warming. Look for pesticide-free produce, ideally from local sources (be mindful of pollution added with transportation). If you have your own garden, try switching chemical fertilizers with organic compost.

Water treatment factories remove a lot of pollutants from water before it gets back to our pipes from water capture, but none of them is 100% effective. Even underground water sources are not as clean anymore due to leaking pollutants from the soils. Reducing chemicals you use at home, you help to restore the ocean’s health as well as benefit your health by implementing less chemical-laden lifestyle.
