Emotions are with us all the time. They developed before our consciousness did – that’s why we cry for food as toddlers before we learn how to ask for it using words. You may have developed this attitude that emotions are wrong or unnatural, but they are not. Do not fear to acknowledge them. By pretending you do not experience them, the emotions will not disappear. You just lose the opportunity to hear their message.
It may not be necessary to express your emotions openly every time you experience them, but it is essential to know that they are there. It is fine to talk about your emotions, maybe less so through emotions. Emotions will be with you always, but you can decide how to act on them, and for this, you need to understand them and be able to pause, to let your logical part of the brain to evaluate the situation and decide the best course of actions.
