Own your project

Let’s start with accountability. It’s important that you distinguish accountability from responsibility. Someone from your team may be responsible for the task you assign to them, but in the end you are accountable for the final output of your team members. If something doesn’t get done – you should always be ready to step in and take over the steers to guide your ship towards the shore. As a founder, you are the captain of your ship and you should be aware of any malfunctions and be able to quickly react with a solution.

Remember this – you are accountable for the success of your venture. Awaken the sense of ownership and keep yourself in check with the tasks to be done. Introduce reporting as a way to stay informed with the progress of each of the tasks in your team and keep alert to the early signs of possible detours.
