Lungs damage

It is a potent pollutant, measured by PM2.5 (fine particles), which means that the particles are very small. They penetrate the human organism easily, spreading its toxic influence throughout the body and resulting in lungs disease, respiratory illnesses, heart problems, and even premature death.

Locations polluted with black carbon the most often can be spotted for their very poor air visibility (smog). These are mostly seen in developing countries and locations which rely on wood to warm houses (Krakow in Poland is struggling with this pollution, causing many health problems).
