natural carbon sink - ocean

Oceans are the largest carbon sink on Earth so far. However, oceans can’t absorb all the CO2 which we put in the atmosphere. When more carbon is stored in the water, it needs to connect with water molecules, creating carbonic acid, which impacts oceans’ acidity. Acidification is damaging to many marine species and the primary risk of corals disappearance.
