How to stop a wildfire

To stop wildfire, one of the three conditions must be eliminated. It’s difficult to deprive an open area of oxygen, so wildfires are managed by either spraying water to reduce the heat or by creating firebreaks – removed vegetation around wildfire area to deprive it of fuel.

This logic is often used before starting so-called prescribed wildfires, which could help to clear the forest in a controlled burning process and prevent larger, more destructive wildfires from occurring.
