How it all started

Gene inception into different organism was first successfully done in 1970s. However, it was only applied to food in 1992 for the first time, the idea caused by the occurrence of a disease that affected papaya yield in Hawaii, reducing the output to 40%.

After nearly a decade, genetically modified papaya was created, and the crops were flourishing unaffected by the virus that caused their decline 10 years earlier.
