Hoarding is driven by a primary emotion of greed – we want more, and we want a variety, but we don’t really need it. We succumb to temptation, accumulating endless stuff, of which at least half we use rarely or never. And even though we see this clearly, we fail to learn the lesson and resist the spent next time a shiny thing catches our attention. We are confident we need it, but only until it arrives home.

To work on greed, practice gratitude.
