Geothermal energy

Another way to use renewable energy (again only useful when you live in the landed property) is to get geothermal installation. There are solutions available to individuals which allow such a setup, but their efficiency will depend on how deep under the ground a company needs to drill to reach the level where the soil is hot enough to warm the water. This water could be used directly as warm water to shower or to heat your home in winter. Even when the water is not hot enough, the benefits can still accrue, since you use less of traditional energy to heat the water to a needed temperature.

Insulating windows is a simple thing that you can do to prevent heat from escaping from your house in winter. During summer, you can use blackout curtains to block the rooms from sun heat as well as keep the windows closed for the outside heat not to enter. The latter one would minimize your reliance on air conditioning.
