natural carbon sink - fossil fuel

Fossil fuels were once living plants and organisms, that get buried when they die and start decomposing to form energy resources – oil, natural gas, and coal eventually. They keep a lot of carbon in their structures, which stays in for millions of years before it gets released back in the atmosphere as we burn fossil fuels. Such a long time to hold the carbon for fossil fuels, maintaining natural carbon cycle, but such a quick way we massively put the carbon in the atmosphere, while depleting this natural sink.
