As I mentioned, the third stage is very creative, which is the opposite of the logical thinking and analytical mind. In the ideation stage, to spark creativity it is important to guide the team into divergent thinking. In the topics materials section there’s a great resource on what strategies could be used for this type of thinking.
Divergent thinking is characterized by coming up with many solutions to one statement/problem, whereas convergent thinking focuses on finding out one “right” answer. In design thinking you are using both and you alternate between them. It is important to set the frame each time for appropriate thinking method, depending on the needs of every stage.
