Deforestation vs Afforestation

The reasons for reduced absorption are suspected to be frequent fires, deforestation and land desertification[1], which makes soils less receptive as well as leaves fewer trees per area. This could be corrected with afforestation, making the forests denser, soils upgrade and of course preventing further degradation of the forests by human activities.
