China first reported the coronavirus situation to WHO on 31st December 2019. That’s when international public turned a closer eye on the virus. But despite attributing the outbreak to the last day of 2019, it is suspected that the virus was circulating in China from late November.
First infection outside of China occurred in Thailand on January 13. A woman who arrived from Wuhan – the epicenter of the outbreak – tested positive. By the time WHO announced Novel Coronavirus a global emergency on January 30, the virus spread in China to all the provinces and 18 countries outside China.
