Brainstem

This part of the brain is located under cerebrum and in front of the cerebellum. It connects the other two parts of the brain to the spinal cord facilitating information flow between them (signals sent from cerebrum and cerebellum travel through Brainstem to spinal cord and further to Peripheral Nervous System).

On top of this, brainstem’s job involves control of involuntary actions (the ones we do not control by our will), such as breathing, heartbeat, digestion, blood pressure and more. It is also involved in reflexes, such as vomiting, sneezing, coughing or swallowing.

The brainstem controls our circadian rhythm, influencing your wakefulness and impacting sleep.

The good news is that you can improve the functioning of all three brain regions by stimulating them with the activities they control. The connection works both ways – the brain controls your action and the actions you do influence your brain. Do it strategically, and you will notice improvements in no time!
