Being in control

Mindfulness is being in control. You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to this and how it makes you feel.

It is acceptance of the thoughts and emotions you have, realizing that you are not your thoughts. It’s not your thoughts that put you down, it’s your interpretation of them and the reaction that you choose.

Mindfulness helps you to select your response consciously instead of acting on an impulse. You may notice when harmful thoughts start appearing and pause to decide what you will do with these thoughts.
