Before meditation

Before you begin meditation, you need to prepare for it, to give your mind some time to adjust, to create a transition from the state of being always on the go to the state of inner peace. The practice is done in stillness, which will be difficult to achieve with a mind which is still running. There will be a disconnect – the body is still, while the mind wants to rush, the unity of body, mind, and breath is not achieved.

This is one of the reasons many people find it challenging to meditate – they haven’t prepared for it. They haven’t relaxed enough to experience the meditation, to let themselves simply be in the moment. They get overwhelmed and stop the practice just after they start. With proper preparation, this is easier to handle, you send your mind the signal that stillness time is coming with a transition, such as mindful movement and breathing.
