Herbs and spices used in TCM and Ayurveda, which have a beneficial effect on brain chemistry, as well as help strengthen the immune and general health are now accessible almost anywhere in the world. We speak a bit more about these in Nutrition courses, however here I want to list some of the most common adaptogens. Please, consult your doctor before trying any of them, as some people may have an adverse reaction.

Common Adaptogens

  • Ginseng
  • Reishi mushrooms
  • Rhodiola Rosea
  • Ashwagandha 
  • Licorice root

There are many more. When trying them, choose roots, dried leaves or flowers which you can get from TCM or Ayurveda shops. Available in other places extracts from these plants (often encapsulated) are processed, which reduces their efficiency and adds to global warming (CO2 emissions resulting from processing). 

Go for natural, unprocessed adaptogens – it takes longer to prepare, but it benefits your health (and planet) more!
